Hi, I’m Emma, a 40 year old woman on a journey of discovery, health and healing.

Like many others, my journey began a couple of years ago, looking for reasons as to why I felt so unhealthy, exhausted and stressed.

I was SO fed up with having no get-up-and-go and just couldn’t accept that it was right or normal. I was in an exhausting job that I didn’t enjoy, but even that couldn’t explain all the ways in which I felt so drained.  I suffered from various chronic problems like psoriasis, tiredness, mood swings, irritability, sugar cravings, orthostatic hypotension and feeling cold all the time.

It wasn’t that I was ill or incapacitated, I just felt generally rubbish and had absolutely no idea why!
I was tired of that being my ‘normal’.

Around the same time, one of my dear friends was fighting a battle with Lyme disease and her long and painful journey back to health.  I learnt so much from her journey and through watching her slowly heal, in the end largely using good clean nutrition and foods, herbs, supplements and stress reduction.  The growing realisation that conventional medicine and drugs simply weren’t providing all the answers to complete healing and health.

I began to appreciate the awesome healing power of good food. The horrific impact that sugar, gluten, environmental toxins, processed foods and Western diets are having on people’s health across the world. The growing problem with obesity, Type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, autoimmune conditions and cancer, despite conventional medicine’s efforts to treat them all.

In my own journey, I learnt about things like leaky gut, thyroid dysfunction and adrenal fatigue (each quite complex conditions but ones that are all too common in our stressed and poorly nourished society).  I finally began to understand why I’d been feeling so awful for so long!

Over the months, I turned into a knowledge sponge, learning about the bad trigger foods to avoid and the supplements I could take to help with my own health problems.  I soon learnt that gluten and dairy were directly related to my psoriasis, sugar was a nightmare for my mood swings, Vitamin D ramped up my energy levels and that probiotics were a godsend!

And that was just the tip of the iceberg!

The last piece of my own puzzle was discovering wonderful tools to tackle the stress and negativity in my life.  When my marriage fell apart, it was essential for me to properly grieve and heal, forgive myself and indulge in real self-love for the first time in my life. I discovered essential tools like yoga, EFT (or ‘tapping’), mindfulness, meditation and gratitude. Calming my mind, and relaxing and reducing stress, has been just as essential to my healing as the good food and nutrition.

More recently, my dad developed throat cancer and I watched as he went through the conventional treatments of chemo and radiation, that have so many awful side effects and are so horribly debilitating. Another part of Western medicine that I had previously accepted without question, believing it to be the only option for cancer treatment. Seeing Ty Bollinger’s ‘The Truth About Cancer’ series continued to open my eyes to the real healing power of natural foods and the life-changing effects of a truly healthy lifestyle.

Putting together this website has been about sharing what I’ve learnt and am still learning every day. I hope you find things here that help you on your own healing journey, wherever you are on it.
