Basil, Garlic & Avocado Dip | Creamy Scrumptiousness

It’s no secret that I love avocados and like to find many different ways to eat them.  Either sweet or savoury recipes, I’m not fussy.  Because avocados seem to add a healthy richness to everything.

So I had to get busy making and sharing this lovely avocado dip.  With all the scrumptious creaminess you’d expect, plus the added freshness of basil and a lovely garlicky kick.

And apart from being super easy to knock up, it’s a nourishing dip to boot!

With plenty of healthy fatty acids, vitamins A, B5, B6, B9, C, E and K.
As well as minerals like calcium, iron, potassium, manganese, selenium and phosphorous.  AND important antioxidant compounds including quercetin, rutin, gallic acid and rosmarinic acid.

Plus, you make it yourself, so it contains none of the added dairy, thickeners or preservatives that commercial products are made with.  It’s just pure and simple goodness.

I’ve tweaked my version with the addition of extra garlic and some black pepper, cos they’re both such healing ingredients.  Garlic for example, is one of the most healing ingredients, being one of the best foods for liver health in the world.

But you can of course adjust your own ingredients and add whatever you fancy.

Basil, Garlic & Avocado Dip

Note: to make this avocado dip, you’ll need a blender or food processor.


  • 1 large Hass avocado
  • 1 handful fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2-3 tablespoons tahini (sesame butter)
  • 2-3 tablespoons water
  • pinch of sea salt & black pepper to taste


1  Pop everything in your blender/food processor and whizz up until beautifully smooth.  Feel free to add more water if the consistency is too thick.

2  Taste your dip and adjust the seasoning as preferred.

3  Once ready, spoon into a serving container.  You can store in the fridge to keep fresh until later.

This is an avocado dip that goes beautifully with herby crackers, sweet potato wraps, crispy crudites or just splurged on top of a healthy, homemade salad bowl.
