Essential Oils For Pain Relief (Roll-On Blend)

essential oils for pain

If like me you’re concerned about how much you turn to oral pain killers and are keen to find natural alternatives, then using essential oils for pain relief is a fantastic healing option for you! [1]

Essential oils can work topically, absorbing directly into the affected area through your skin.  This means they don’t need to be processed by your gut and liver, (one of the reasons why systemic oral drugs and anti-inflammatories have so many damaging side effects when used long-term.)

You can also taylor-make your blends to suit you and your particular needs and tastes, and be more in control of your own healthcare.

This blend of essential oils for pain is particularly powerful because it contains some of the best anti-inflammatory oils in combo.  Copaiba essential oil, though not well-known, has significant pain-killing benefits [2].  So when combined with the other oils, you get a lovely aromatic, anti-inflammatory mix

As an extra tip, when mixing your blend, try popping it in a glass roller bottle and keeping it with you in your bag for whenever you need it.  The roller makes it perfect for rubbing into affected areas without any spills, dripping or mess.  It’s a handy, inexpensive item for your essential oils kit.

Essential Oils For Pain Relief Blend

Note: this blend of essential oils is ideal for a 5ml glass roller bottle.

  • 4 drops copaiba oil
  • 3 drops basil oil
  • 3 drops marjoram oil
  • 2 drops frankincense oil
  • carrier oil – jojoba oil and fractionated coconut oil are good carrier oil choices.

1  Carefully add the essential oils to your roller bottle.

2  Top up the rest of the bottle with your favourite carrier oil.  Give the blend a good shake to evenly distribute the oils together.

3  Apply your roll-on to any areas of discomfort, such as joint pain, aches, stiffness, tenderness and inflammation.  You can do this TWICE a day for maximum effect.

I LOVE this blend, it’s so soothing and powerful.  And it’s so satisfying to be able to make your own topical pain relief that doesn’t contain all the toxins and chemicals of commercial products!  Less toxins in your body means less chronic illness.

Using essential oils for pain relief also means you can get the benefit of the active compounds both topically AND from inhaling the gorgeous fragrance.  So it’s a double whammy of benefits.

If you try this blend yourself, or any variation of it, then let me know how you get on in the comments below.  And please share your own EO blends and recipes, so I can try them out too!  In the meantime, stay healthy friends x
