I absolutely LOVE this drink!!  It really is a zingy green smoothie recipe to refresh your palate and leave you super-nourished!

The ginger, turmeric, black pepper and citrus combo, give it a mouth-cleansing lift and get the taste buds watering.  You can almost feel it doing you good, like you’re drinking a whole glass of actual SELF-CARE.

Also, I make a LOT of smoothies, which are usually based around avocados and bananas, so this makes a real nice change to that formula.

This green smoothie recipe contains some of the best immune-boosting nutrients with tons of anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) – one of the most powerful antioxidant compounds for supporting the immune system [1].
  • Vitamin A – always associated with eye health, but just as important for immune health [1a].
  • Minerals zinc, selenium and magnesium – jam-packed inside spinach and essential for keeping the immune system tip-top [2].
  • Curcumin – possibly the most well-researched natural anti-inflammatory on the planet [3].
  • Flavonoids, carotenoids, curcuminoids, anthocyanins, gingerols, phenols and sterols – an army of antioxidants with a wealth of benefits for the body [4].

Oh and by the way, whenever I add turmeric, I always include a source of healthy fats and black pepper.  This ensures the turmeric is as bio-available as possible when it gets digested.  So that’s why this little trio HAVE to go together.

Zingy Green Smoothie Recipe

Note: This green smoothie recipe makes enough for about 2 servings.  A juicer is beneficial if you have one.


  • 3 oranges, juiced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2-3 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 2 large handfuls fresh spinach
  • 1 thumb-sized knob of fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1 slug extra virgin olive oil


  • 1 clove of garlic – if you can bear to add garlic, do so, because it’s one of the top foods for liver health and one of the most immune-supportive plants on the planet! [5]


1  You need to juice all the citrus fruits first.

2  Once that’s done, pour your juice into the blender with all the other ingredients.  Then whizz up on high speed, until completely smooth.

3  Serve immediately to get maximum benefit from all those fresh phytonutrients.  Although it will keep great in the fridge for a bit, if needed.
